Otherwise, they're never going give you more money that you aren't even asking for.
Not saying go to your employer and 'demand' 50% more, but if you're not asking for a raise at least biennially, you're losing money.
Even in shit jobs. If you haven't got a 10% raise even in fast food within 2 years, you're either fucking yourself or they have an exceptionally large pool. Shit jobs have super high turnover and employ total crackheads so if you actual show up on time for 2 years, you are very likely to get a substantial wage just by sticking with it.
Anyway my point is that yeah the labor market is pretty bad right now, but GOOD workers absolutely have some leverage. It's shitty out there, but don't screw yourself out of money you could be making just by not talking to your manager.
