Nothing in particular, it's all personal preference. I actually think I'm the opposite of you in those cases, I would prefer a bourbon when it's cold or a scotch (provided it's not an Islay-variety, not a fan) on a warm summer evening.

I replaced my bed with a hammock and am sleeping in it full time now. Had some wild turkey 101 last night while staying /in/. Strange to see this thread.

I don't want to ever move another mattress and bed frame for the rest of my life. Even the cheapest hammock stands are 1000x better than anything the entire bed industry produces. I'm a voluntary celibate and hermit so I don't have to worry about some stupid woman. Cringe, I know, but I am actually happy for the first time in years.

I'm using a 9" stand. I'm a 5'10" manlet tho. Everyone says you can't sleep in that for 8 hours but I'm really enjoying it. I have two hammocks, one an ultralight nylon and another a cotton. Not sure which I prefer, but the nylon is more mattress like. It's very stiff. The cotton likes to stretch but it's very warm and comfy. Not the ceiling anon, btw. But you might could look into it.

BTW, stiff isn't a con. It's a great recliner substitute. You can sit with your head above your shoulders and read comfortably. Cotton is less suited for that, in my experience.

I prefer scotch to bourbon, but I took Buffalo Trace bourbon with me on my last outing. Otherwise I drink Johnnie Walker Black Label or Gold Label. I also recently discovered Suntory Whisky Toki, a Japanese whisky that is made the same way as scotch, just without the peat and using cold glacier water from the mountains. If you like scotch, it's similar enough to be familiar and different enough to be novel. Also, it's 45% ABV, not the usual 35%.

I'm also quite fond of cognac (I prefer Remy Martin to Hennesy), but have never taken it outdoors with me. I'll have to try that sometime.

What brand? I bought some hard-to-pronounce German blackberry liqueur a few months ago and it was thoroughly undrinkable. It was like fucking pancake syrup with 35% ABV. Disgusting.

The Barenjager honey liqueur was pretty good though. Basically mead, which I love (I hate beer and wine, but mead and liquor are good to go), but with the same alcohol content as whiskey.

Honestly beer gives me a worse hangover because I don't feel the need to drink any water while with whiskey I let my ice melt and so the entire time I'm having water plus I'll just drink some water here and there as opposed to just drinking beer after beer. Not to mention whiskey doesn't make you have to fart constantly the next day. That's only if drinking to catch a buzz though. Paddling a kayak while sipping beers and not getting drunk is pure kino.
