I had a 10 hour hike where all the ice melted but I didn't even pack the bladders all the way to the top with ice.
I think my record is consuming almost 4, 3L bladders worth of water on one hike ~ 2.5 gallons
I've gotten progressively larger vacuum water bottles over the years, they are great for whitewater rafting as well (they have cases with straps that you can tie to the boat)
I stay at airbnbs with freezers and buy those bags of ice they sell at gas stations
I go through probably about 20 ice cube trays on a normal non-hiking day
its about effective cooling, i overheat super easily
