>>2068237Generally, how do you find unlisted hidden hot springs in America (not american here)?
I am a crazy natural hot spring nut here in Japan, so I search for deep wilderness 'wild hot springs' a lot.
My method is:
>ask localsfriendly here in japan, I imagine in America it is not possible (locals only thinking)
>look for local blogs/lists onlinelots of hobbyists make note of the major free ones
>google maps/local survey mapssometimes hidden ones have a mark noted or really close up that does not show up on a normal search
>search for steam or blighted areas in known hot spring areas with satellite maps.has worked a bit, usually when I know the general area, but not the exact area.
>local history searchtried this a few times, looked for historical hot springs not in service anymore. Got burned once looking for an inn deep in a back country valley that was destroyed in an earthquake, could not find source, and another found a foundation with a hot creek next to it.
By far obscure bbs lists have the most accurate knowledge, but I put a lot of legwork in too. How do you find them in America? It seems many of these techniques would not work because america is so big.
