So did they fix the topline collar on these things? The 4.5 had the tendency of the top of the collar to dig into your Achilles tendon while hiking and it seemed many people had this issue with that type of shoe.

I still have a couple pairs of 4.5s, which I’m not looking forward to replacing. I never had the Achilles problem a few people complain about. It’s too bad the 5 doesn’t have a black/grey color choice.

I talked to Altra yesterday about them. They should drain and dry faster than the 4.5. The achilles problem is fixed. I did mention the need to fix their color problem. The only good color are in OP and all others are horrendous.

A contender appears. Does anyone have an issue with these shoes in that it feels that your feet slip, slide and twist in them while? It doesn't matter what insoles or socks I wear or how I tie my laces it feels that way. I have read that these shoes have zero torsional (twisting) stability. I have heard you can test this by grabbing the heel with one hand and the forefoot with the other. Twist in opposite directions. Any thoughts on this who experiences a sensation sensation?

I've got 2 pairs of the grey/orange 4.5s , they're nice but pretty aggressive, depending on the trail I think I would rather just use my altra road runners.

I've been trying out the superior 4.5s for about a month, all running no hiking. I'm not sure what it is but those shoes give me a bad pain in the tops of my feet, like between the arch and the ankle. As soon as I go back to running in bedrocks or xeros mesa they are fine.
I'm going to try hiking in them to see if they are good for something.

They don't make the Timp 1.5 Trail-Running Shoes and they were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. It felt like running on air and the lacing system did not hurt the top of my feet. HOWEVER if you walked on anything too smooth or wet you will fall down and I learned that the hard way. I think they still make Timp and I would advise to not use them near areas that are wet.
