Its a really nice place if you're in Boise proper, any of the outer suburbs(Meridian or Nampa/Caldwell) are just shitty suburban sprawl. Now with all the out of staters moving here Boise has become one of the most expensive zip codes in the country. The access to the outdoors is pretty unbeatable. Foothills for hiking/mtb and bogus basin is right up the road for snow sports. If you want to get into the real good stuff you need to leave Boise tho, go north and get lost in the wilderness.

Was driving through Bend when I was taking a cross country road trip. Me getting there happened to coincide with the entire town having a 1950s day type thing. People all dressed up like from the 50s, classic cars cruising down mainstreet, live street performances, and a farmers market to top it all off. That was one of the coolest experiences I had the entire trip.

Also, your number is old. Boise now has 350k just for the city limits proper. The actual metro area has 750k.
It’s not NYC, but that’s still more than enough to put it 108th on the city list and 78th for metro area.

By no stretch is one of the top 100 metro areas /out/. Boise is larger than Akron, and nobody calls Akron /out/ either.

I completely understand the reasons for leaving California, I'm doing the same thing. I just don't get why Boise of all places has turned into such a prime destination for it. It seems like a place I'd enjoy but I'm a conservative who's mostly into /out/ and /k/ shit and I'm leaving for personal rather than economic reasons, while most of the current wave of refugees seem more like people who actually LIKE California and would prefer to live there if it weren't so expensive, and Boise doesn't seem to offer much of what they enjoy about CA.
