Both are bad because the more you agitate the tick the more it's going to burrow in and inject more toxins, supposedly squeezing them with tweezers forces the toxins out of them and into your body as well
I guess the noose might be a little better than the tweezers because you're not squeezing it but with the tick locked on there's probably a good chance of ripping it apart and the jaws or a leg getting stuck in there

This is my first spring and summer in Arkansas and people's apprehension and fear of the ticks is freaking me out. I've found one on my belly before and it wasn't a big deal and I felt it immediately... how do people not know these are imbedding themselves in their bodies?
I want to respect the tick, but my urge to go hike and camp is strong.

I have a large property that's overgrown in the back and I mow paths through it because it's cool to walk through, but I think I'm gonna have to mow it all because my kids keep getting ticks on them when they go back there. This isn't true. It stems from a deboonked theory that the bacteria resided in the tick's gut or bloodstream and took time to get to its mouthparts while feeding. It's been known for some time that the bacteria can reside on its mouthparts, so theoretically you can be infected almost immediately.

I use picrelated. I live on the southwestern coast of Finland and spend a lot of time in the archipelago as well, there are massive amounts of tics. Every summer I have to remove multiple tics off myself and my dogs. I carry those tic twisters in my autism EDC tin because I have to use them almost daily, my dogs are unironic tic magnets.

I think a tick would still be able to crawl up your body with long underwear on, and it would only be practical to wear something like that in a cold environment

Maybe there's some kind of hiking sock or something you could wear around your shins to stop them from grabbing on? The way they get on you is through brushing grass that they wait on, so if you had something smooth and plastic like they wouldn't be able to grab on

I don't get it with these tick things. Spent 8 years in National Guard in NY state, with 2 weeks in the woods. On 2014, I contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick in my backyard in Little Rock.

We had a string of 3 years with no real, "winter' (ice, hard freeze, etc). They were SO bad over the last few years. But here in LR, we had significant snow and super cold Temps (for here).

I've been out in my back acreage clearing new and cleaning old trails. So far, I haven't seen a single tick. So, it looks like winter really helped this year.

I've probably pulled hundreds of ticks out of myself and probably over a thousand more from dogs. I've seen them get huge on dogs because people don't pay enough attention. I have seen tick infestations kill a dog.
I've never gone to the doctor or any of that shit, desu didn't know it was that big of a deal. I'm from Oklahoma and people just seem to deal with them. Maybe the area I was in doesn't have the serious diseases you guys speak of, or maybe I've just been very lucky.
I don't see how it would have been viable for me as a child to go to the doctor every time I had a tick since it happened almost every day. They're just out there and if you go outside and fuck around in the woods you'll get them.

I recently moved out to a wooded area and have pulled a few ticks off so far. We had the woodline fogged and I've been using sawyer brand spray which has helped. Mom's getting a ton now for whatever reason but they're leaving me alone and I'm glad because these threads scare me. I have some oils and neem gunk I'm going to mix and try too at some point.
