>>222487eh. They claim to be indestructible and more efficient than heavier traditional axes.
I personally have never used one, but i know for a fact they are not indestructible(Check youtube reviews. There are plenty of people who own them[or the rebranded gerber ones] who have had them fail). Also, be very leery of axe heads that are covered in any kind of finish other than that black crap from forging... 9/10, when it is, its to cover the fact that its shitty slag metal.
Also, these are permanently afixed to the handle... So should the handle fail, you can not replace it with a traditional handle. It would qualify for warranty replacement, but that really wont count for much if you're in the middle of a forest.
If you are going to buy a new axe, get a granfors(pic related). Might be a bit more expensive than a fiskars/gerber, but they are beautifully made and very dependable.
Otherwise, go to some garage sales and refurbish an old axe. 2 hours of labor and $5 worth of supplies(Vinegar, brass brush for your drill, wedge to re-attach the handle after cleaning) should be enough to get an old axe back in tip-top shape. Add another $10 if you need to replace the handle.
