How concerned are you guys about ticks? I found two on me last March after hiking in southern Ohio. One I caught a day after and it was pretty small, the other was next to my asshole for about a week and when I pulled it off it looked like an old piece of corn. Never had any symptoms but I hear I can still Lyme and be fucked for the rest of my life. You guys take precautions against these demons?

Excessive amounts of permethrin on all gear. Pic related is the pus from my knee when I had arthritic lyme. Luckily, it seems I made a full recovery.

Mississippi dear tick gave me lyme disease but i caught on after i developed a bullseye pattern which is normal but doesnt happen all the time. I was able to get antibiotics before my body was really effected. I would say i got medicated about a week after first getting bit.

I have been hiking that area for years. Wear pants and don’t gallop through shoulder-high meadows and you will be fine. Even if you do find ticks which you will sometimes you won’t get AIDS. fags on this board freak out over tick diseases but you should probably worry more about mosquitoes.

There was already a lyme vax back in the 90s that was pretty good but it got pulled because of white women complaining.

I get them on my arms sometimes but I always notice them, usually I just tuck my trousers into my socks and it's all good. Found some in my boots before but that's all good.

I live way out of town in northern NC. Typically, I get dozens of ticks on me a year. As far as I know, I've never had any long-term affects from bites and have gotten to where I find them almost immediately. If you douse the bite in alcohol immediately after removing the tick, it will decrease or eliminate the irritation.

grew up/live in illinois
visiting my grandma in the country was pretty much always a guarantee for getting at least one tick. she has 15 acres of forest so i spend a lot of time outside in tall grass/brush when im there. desu just check your head/crevices when you get back inside. i think as long as you pick them off soon enough you'll be fine

I'll check every day during tick season. Didn't get one after July 4 last year. Lyme disease isn't carried by ticks in my area only rarely. Best to someone else to check the hard to see areas like back, under arms, scalp.

Grew up in southern Indiana and got ticks constantly playing in the woods as a kid. Now I live in Colorado, barely see mosquitoes when camping and haven’t gotten a single tick and I’m never going somewhere humid and overly buggy again. Take the MountainWestPill

Did some study of entomology and disease. At least in the US, ticks are of far greater concern for diseases compared to mosquitos.
