Pic related is northern Ural mountains in Siberia, Russia.
The mountain chain is only ~20 km (12 miles) wide so i'm planning to cross it by foot from west to east.
Plus some more hiking through the surrounding plains it should be a no more than 40 km (24 miles) hike.
Terrain is not really steep, those mountains are very eroded and on the top there's nothing but rocks, lakes, streams and seasonally snow.
Upper part of the mountain chain is very wide and flat, an highland rather than sharp mountain peaks.
I already know how to get to the start point and get out from arrival point.
I have experience with steep terrain, rock scramble and sleeping outside on the Swiss Alps.
I got the best gps, gear and clothes possible.
Animals shouldn't be much of a danger, they are very scattered in the forest/plains and non-existent on the highlands.
What could go wrong?
Is bear spray effective on both yogis and wolves?
First attempt would be during summer (it's better early or later summer for less mosquitoes?) and if it's successful i could attempt a winter traverse.
