I am a girl, been going on proper /out/ings since I was 15.
It's a mixed bag to be honest. I've tried to take other girls on overnight hikes about 4 times and it's worked exactly once.
First girl:
>spends months talking to me how much she likes camping
>she really wants to go on a trip with me, asks me to plan a route
>she's kind of overweight so I plan a really easy "hike": just an afternoon of walking with along a ridge of hills near where I live, camping with a good view and comfy fire, and spend the morning walking back in time for lunch at my place.
>first hour of the walk is on flat ground, we chat, she talks about all the places she's camped
>she's mentioning loads of mountainous areas so I begin to wonder if I underestimated her
>we get to the start of the walk up the hill.
>she goes 5 metres up the trail and stops
>"I think you planned this pretty badly, this is too steep"
>it's a 20 degree incline at most
>I tell her the hill isn't that tall and it won't take us long at all to reach the top
>she shakes her head
>"it'll hurt my ankle"
>I apologise, tell her I didn't realise she had an injury
>"I don't, but I can't afford to get one because of my job" (she's a nurse)
>Offer to go a longer, but more gentle route
>she refuses, says she's already getting sore, demands we go home
>later I found out all the camping she was referring to was car camping
>I'm pretty sure she couldn't tell the difference between sore feet and injury
Second girl:
>I've been planning a trip with a bunch of old friends from school
>Another friend (girl) is really into one of the guys in the group, asks to come along
>I add her to the group chat, she seems enthusiastic
>day we're supposed to leave
>she asks which campsite we're going to
>we explain we're not going to a campsite, we're heading into the woods
>she says that sounds too dangerous
>guy she's after messages saying it's perfectly safe
>10 minutes later we get a text saying she's suddenly busy
