So I bought an external frame pack (kelty Tioga) and I like it except for how the pack is attached. It uses these pins with little rings that are an absolute pain in the ass to remove if I want to adjust the pack or remove it from the frame. Anyone know of a better option that is

A tioga is a solid pack. Pretty much all external frames use that technology. Internal frame packs are another option if it annoys you. Both pack styles have their pros and cons

Set it and add a dash of tape to stop noise
you should not be adjusting your pack on the fly after you do the initial setup

sorry, clevis pins are where it's at. I trust them to secure the shrouds on my sailboat and secure the mast upright. they're more than good enough to hold up a bag.

They make all kinds of quick release pins. They use to sell them at outdoor stores before before external frame packs mostly died out.

They're called Clevis pins and you should be able to find them with some sort of quick release at most hardware stores or maybe even Amazon.

They're still used commonly for big game hunting because they can carry more weight than internal frames and you can remove the pack and strap heavy hind quarters to them. Some of the newer external frame packs I've seen lately make me wonder if they might make a comeback in the backpacking world. I saw where a couple companies like Zpak make carbon fiber external frame packs.

Internal frame packs actually had a little bit of pushback when they first hit the scene because the early designs had no breath-ability which is another advantage with the external frame.

Slip "O" rings on either side of the pin, and replace the split rings with large fishing snaps.
