You can end up moving to the office and make around 50k but we dont want that now do we /out/.
Thats why you have to get your degree and get licenced, which is a protected profession by the state (boundaries only). Then your salary jumps from 70k - 120k~ depedning on various of circumstances. I knew a guy who was still doing his on jobs for a company and they left him be in his little corner cause he was licenced, so he did whatever he wanted from start to finish. I think he was making like 80k a year? Or 45/hr I heard.

Surveying is basically the black sheep of construicion, so nobody knows what you really do and think its easy and dont think they need to pay you much. Like when foremen guys do their own survey and end up like 2" of on the elev on the footing or some shit.
