Does anyone have any experience with taming or befriending crows?
Any stories about interactions with crows or other wild birds such as ravens?

I've heard you can steal an egg to get a crow and teach it stuff. I'm kinda interested, so need advice.

Also not located in the us so legality isn't a problem.

Bumping because it sounds interesting.
I thought about taming a falcon and even read part of a 300 year old book on catching and training one for hunting once, but I don't know anything about crows, although I think you could do it if you have some space for it to live in and train him everyday since birth. That would be pretty cool.

I once found a baby raven that was hopping around in the street (grew up on a farm), he couldn't fly yet and had a foot that was a bit malformed probably why he fell down. I took him in and cared for him for a few months he would sit on my shoulder or a stick and I'd walk around with him, he didn't talk but I heard you need to cut their tongue for that so I did not do that. I planned on releasing him someday but one day he was dead because rats or some other animal got into his cage and killed him.. sad.

if you do do that atleast make sure he has a big fucking area to play and fly around in, birds especially wild ones will be very depressed in small cages. they are very smart animals

Not sure about crows but magpies are pretty easy to befriend.

Easiest way is to find a nest in a tree somewhere nearby or that you frequent. Walk past slowly, showing your face-they'll remember you and not swoop.

Bring them food after a few weeks of them getting used to you, and offer them mealworms, but make sure to kill them beforehand as they can wriggle around younger magpies throats if left alive.
Don't be a retard when feeding them and leave the mealworms on the ground for possums and stray cats and god knows what, you can construct a little feeder pretty easily out of whatever spare wood you have available, just be careful when placing on a bough-they might trust you but not enough to be so close to their nest.

I've owned two crows, befriended a few. The raised ones were a lot easier to train and get close with, while the wild ones seem more like shitty job I didn't want to do.

Get a cheap crow caller, their noises are easy to make. Lookup the sound of crows calling for friends. It sounds like 3 caws back to back. Keep doing this in an area you want them to hang out and they will eventually learn that it's a cool place. They are very territorial so you wont see a bunch of them in the same tree unless they are a family. If you use a caller you will eventually learn the different birds and their families they have very specific call pattern differences. Another anon said worms, that is good. You can make a worm caller stick (it sounds like schizo shit but it is real lol) then you have unlimited food for crows. They also like shiny little trinkets and will bring you gifts if they like you.

It really makes you feel connected to nature.No matter where you go you can make bird friends. Also a cool party trick to go into the backyard and call like a huge group of birds.
