>>2098391>beehiveNot really? I honestly don't know what I'm doing since this is my first hive, just read a couple books. Bought a pre-made hive and assembled it, purchased 10,000 bees and a queen, and dumped them all in the hive as per the instructions. Sprinkled some lemongrass essential oil on/around the hive, since it supposedly smells similar to the pheromone they mark a good site with when searching for a new hive. Also gave them a supply of sugar water with a little spearmint oil added; the spearmint doesn't bother the bees, but it does inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, etc. in the sugar water.
Checked up on them the following weekend; sugar water was mostly empty, filled it back up and added more spearmint, sprinkled some more lemongrass oil around the hive. The queen was freed from her transport and adopted by the hive, and they've begun building comb. We'll see how it goes from there. I've got four more hives assembled, not gonna get more bees for them until I see how this one does.
I've been planting flowering plants in the area in anticipation of the bees, to help keep them in the hive and feed them, and to encourage them to pollinate my garden. Half that shit has died, in spite of my best efforts to keep it all watered and protected from being eaten by the fucking deer and pigs. The other half seems to be doing well.
>>2098993You know the difference between a cyborg and a sex toy? A firewall.
If they require anything like a fucking microchip, vaccine passport, or other bullshit to get a job, I'm dropping out of society entirely. I'll work under the table for cash like a fucking wetback until I'm as self-sufficient as possible, and then I'm fucking off to my cabin, never to be seen again. Good riddance.
I would love to have a wife and children on the homestead, but I'd rather be a hermit mountainman whose only contact with humanity is forays into civilization every 6 months or so for coffee and sugar than live in an intolerable asylum.
