If you'er rained out and stuck in your tent or two days, you will too. Two vestibules for gear and dog. No "climb over" for night trips. Room to stretch out and un/dress.
For me, free standing is a must, this does and nicely.
If you really are concerned about the weight, split it up. One person carries the fly and footprint, the other the tent body and poles. Should be fine like that, it's not that heavy for a three person.
And if car camping, will take a queen size air mattress for the ultimate in cushy, pleasure fucking!
