does anyone use haversacks anymore? are they pointless? why do i see so many people carrying them on trails and hiking and camping grounds? why not just get a backpack?

on short trips i do, if i want to bring a book or some painting supplies or something. otherwise i have a hip sack that i just store the essentials. big bag if its a trip further into the wilderness

Or a lumbar pack.
An haversack is an outdated design that you would only use if you were retarded (hence why women like them).
Only other reason I could see to use one is if you need to put/take stuff from it a lot of times.
You would only have to rotate it a bit more to your front, do what you have to do and put it back in a comfortable position, rinse repeat.
Surely faster and less tiring than putting on and taking off a backpack.
But outside of that, retarded, if for nothing else for putting all the weight on one side of your body.

Too uncomfortable. Those messenger bag Chrome fags end up having issues from use later. Maxpedition may have had the best system. If I wanted to stand out looking like a concerned citizen though. Just use a fanny fag. More comfortable.

ive used a messenger type bag for biking since 2008 or so (my main mode of transportation) and have no musculoskeletal issues in my shoulders as far as i can tell

yee I used one for a few years and then carried a duffel a lot later and have mild sciatic nerve pain whenever I carry anything that way for too long now (mostly thru airports or moving houses and shit). can wear balanced backpacks all day still.

not sure if it's quite a haversack, but I use one of these as a briefcase and short afternoon outings.
fits a bottle of water, cliff bar, sketch book, and or camera quite nice.

works for dressing up or down, goes just as well with a blue suit as it does with jeans and flannels.
