>>2099907I'm in the process of packing for 5 days in the mountains. My food looks something like this:
Breakfast: 2 packets instant oatmeal various flavors with granola, walnuts and dried fruits mixed in.
Lunch: Flour tortillas with pepperoni and cheddar cheese and two packets of peanut butter and jelly.
Dinner: dehydrated meals, 2 Peak Fuel and 2 Good to Go. Will mix spare pepperoni, cheese and fritos in. And a small apple or cherry pie for dessert.
Snacks: nature valley granola bars, nutty buddies, a probar or two, and some mixed nuts.
Drink mix: Starbucks instant coffee, 1 emergen-c per day and some propel drink mixes.
I'm still in the process of picking and choosing things, but this is my foundation so far. Technically speaking most people say you should carry no more than two pounds of food per day or try to shoot for around 3500 calories and bump that up to 5000 if you're going to be going out for weeks or months on trail. For a short trip or just starting a thru-hike 3500 calories should be okay. Hope this helps. Any questions just let me know.
