>>2112258There's a joke here of people posting oversized gear like of cloaks.
Gay thread gets gayer answers.
I don't know shit about softshell and not buying that $200+ queer gear but seems like Amazon daddy orders.
If you don't mind the weight, then Carhartt will get you through backwoods. If you want wool, look at Big Bens heaviest wool, the 32 oz. The other shit isn't all virgin wool as far as I know.
I use polycotton, like the Fjallarpen mentioned above. You can wax a lot of this shit in certain areas too like the knee's if you want and you get the advantage of fast drying and water resistance. The more you are outside, the more you realize you will eventually get wet either from the elements or from sweat inside. But instead I just use Dickies 874 or Red Kap Duck Dungaree's. It's loose enough that I can use polartec grid fleece under it if cold. Lighter and it dries fast and the campfire doesn't spit acid on it. Carhartt's are too heavy for me.
If it's warm out, just do what people in Australia and New Zealand do and wear shorts.
If you need lower leg protection, wear gaiters like Outdoor Research crocodile gaiters.
