I want to get a kayak for white water, but I don't know what I will do after I get several miles down the river (without my car)
I have a roof rack but I don't have any friends who could pick me up

Well given the fact he's going downstream in a kayak it'll be uphill the entire way back to his car after running whitewater which would defeat the purpose of the bike, you had might as well walk at that point.
