Cheetahs out on the plains. tracked them for a few days, couldn't keep up.

This is not what I call camping in the bush. This is called car camping. Your dirty mattresses would look more at home in the basement of an abandoned building, I imagine.

The more I look, the more confused I get. Were you out there to shoot porn? What's with the massive video rig? Why does your shirtless hamplanet need his headlamp? Also, for the love of God, make a fire pit next time. Even homeless trash barrel fires are safer than starting directly on the grass of a field. 1/10 will only survive as someone else's gimp.

firepit wasn't necessary. Everything is still pretty wet. We just got out of the rainy season.
The sun was setting when this photo was taken.
The video rig was for recording animal sighting obviously.

They actually do. My boss had two back in the 80s. It would be very hard now. Their numbers are dwindling fast. They are too specialised to be successful.
pic looks comfy where was this and how many people usually accompany you when you are out?

That was in Eustis, Maine. It was snowing, sleeting, and raining for hours before the pics. We managed to cook a chicken leg stew on the fire through the storm. I usually try to camp with no more than 2 friends. Recently, one of my buddies got into a relationship with an indoor girl, so I have been doing more solo trips. Plus with the weather being nice, it seems less risky to solo hike backcountry trails.

I don't blame OP for car camping, since walking would just be flat.
Plus finding good, clean water sources in that environment would not be as easy as finding a clean mountain spring or stream marked on a topo map

Everyone I was with is African. We work in the bush in different fields.
Thanks for the compliment. it really does look beautiful especially during sunrise and sunset or when you find a large water body and sky and water look like one.
Water really is an issue. The entire area gets flooded during the rainy season. When the water starts drying up, all that is left is pools of water that thousands of animals drink from.

They are actually mounds of earth pilled together by the locals to grow casava on. The ones we were driving through were probably hundred of years old. The fields are no longer in use because there was a massive flood in the 1800s or 1900s. The locals were displaced and the animals took over.
They were basically everywhere and we had no choice but to keep going forward.
