Slingshot use, maybe even spear hunting/fishing (some/most? US states allow some species to be speared)

being /out/ teaches solid skills ... most valuable is thinking into the future and planning and delayed gratification. And if hunting, also patience, maybe even something about animal behaviour (if the shut-in is young and has yet to choose a career, that'd be something too, I guess).
If that fails too: change the wifi password and the admin user/pass for the router(s). That'll bore them to death.
