>>2123030Where I live (Ireland) the only real predator are foxes and I don’t think they’ll be capable of getting inside the very minute gaps that are in the coop. As I said, they’re pretty much all less than an inch in width. If they have their brains about them they might be able to figure out the latch on the nesting boxes and open that up, but it would take some doing I would think. Perhaps I’ll get a locking mechanism for the roof of the nesting box?
>>2123033Cool. Two perches and two holes for lighting/ventilation it is. I’m trying to do this as cheaply as possible, and I have constructed the coop completely for free because I used pallets, scrap plywood and tools/screws that were already available to me.
I have ordered five hybrid blackrock egg laying hens, a 20KG bag of feed and a feeder (I thought this necessary). I intend on just giving them their water in a bowl fastened to something to stop them knocking it over. That sound okay to you? Again, much thanks.
