If you can prepare properly for it being out in the rain is awesome. You don't want to be getting cold and wet but man, some cozy layers and a set of Frogg Toggs™ to keep you dry is the best. Going on a bushwalk in the rain is a great escape.

We'll get there by motorcycle and don't have any rain gear, in fact we barely have any dedicated /out/ gear at all. The last thing I want is for us to get wet while hiking and then have to ride back home cold and soaked under the rain.

I would lie if I said this thread was anything but a rant.

OP here. I opted not to risk the rain and instead set up a last minute B plan elsewhere: it was an oke hike but between a short but unexpected technical part, the lack of a defined objective to reach, and no clear spot were to sit down for lunch she didn't quite enjoy it.

Lesson leaned: NEVER EVER take your >gf on an improvised hike.

I fucking love skinny dipping with gf in the rain, in the afternoon.
Because the rain is cool, lake water feels hot compared to it and the feeling is awesome.

Also, comfy tent camping with gf by the fire is awesome too.
You can put a tarp in front of the tent for extra comfort.
