Yes they are physically the most powerful and lethal creatures in BC, but their motivations for attack are different than black bears and cougars. Grizzlies mostly only attack to defend themselves. If you get attacked by one, play dead - they didn’t whack you to eat you.
Black bears and cougars on the other hand DO hunt people more often than grizzlies. With both you should fight back when being attacked.
The fact a syndicated reality TV show was comfortable with the liability of putting people in grizzly country shows that the trials really aren’t that bad. Up on the north Coast of BC, resource workers are legally required to have someone armed with a shotgun - this is primarily for cougars.
I’m not saying grizzlies don’t kill people, but it’s incredibly rare. Bear spray, noise makers, and the right training should be more then enough.
