Do you use iNaturalist?
Ever since I started using this site I discovered a lot of natural places by looking at other users' observations, and it's a good diary to record all the cool stuff you see /out/side.

fun! id heard of this but never bothered checking it out. i will download it now. ive been playing around with ebird a bit. its got a tracker like for hiking so it shows a trail of breadcrumbs where you found all these different birds

Ebird sounds fun but sadly I don't have the devices to take decent bird photos.
The few observations of birds I have on iNat are either just feathers, dead specimen or shitty blurry pics.
I mostly post plants or slow animals that are easy to photograph.

Plus, you get lots and lots of observations near busy urbanite trails, and barely any observations in far away rural wilderness spots.
That's because the type of people who use inaturalist are also the type of people who use alltrails: cityfolk weekend warriors trying to feel they are important by going on a popular instagram trail
