My spot is actually the best spot for morels I've ever seen, it's a big ass pile of mulch (maybe 10m x 30m x 5m) surrounded by mixed hardwoods dominated by elm and with the occasional white pine thrown in (all my ash died, so I cut them out and put pine in the pockets) on one side and pasture on the other. I pull close to 50 pounds off that little 300m^2 spot every single year and never have to look anywhere else. I was out of town for work at the peak of the season and told my neighbor he could pick some (I give him some every year), and he said he took two grocery bags full, but I'm thinking he told someone because there were tire tracks in my pasture and I doubt he would have drove all the way around (maybe 2 miles, he technically lives on the next road north, but our houses are only 100 yards apart and we have a path through the trees to connect them so he can bring his grandkids over in the golf cart to play with the animals) to pick mushrooms when it's maybe 20 yards off his back porch. I wouldn't mind if he took all of them at all, but now that some third party who doesn't mind driving through my pasture and taking everything knows about my perfect spot I am worried. Already threw locks on every gate, but I'm going to have to do something to stop them from parking in the field next to my pasture and walking in.
Never fucking let anyone know where your spot is.
