Pay attention to the fill power.
I have 2 bags, one for cold, one for very cold.
I don’t know the exact numbers here, but approximately...
Cold bag: 750g of 600 loft
V. Cold bag: 600g of 800 loft (this one is accurate, I just read the label)
Not only lighter, the 800 loft packs down significantly, like really noticeably, smaller than the 600.
900g for a -9 bag is excessive unless you’re driving to a ski field or you have a sherpa.

Further to last, 70L is a big pack. I have 30, 50, and 65, and can get 5-6 nights with the 65. Admittedly for that long I’m recycling base layers except socks n undies. Also no tent, and I actually plan meals rather than the usual “just chuck some shit in a bag and go” approach. And there won’t be any eggs to go with my bacon first couple of days breakfast.

Have you never had a pine branch or a bush poke you? And I often hike off trail to camp at a lake or viewpoint that seems nice. I don't like camping near other people, that defeats the point.

Compressing a bag isn't bad for it as long as it's not for weeks. Even if it does lose its loft, put a couple tennis balls in your dryer, and run it on low heat with your sleeping bag in it. Makes it just like new.

The 25% is all the extra fill you're lugging around, that's been compressed into uselessness. DESU, that's probably understating it, you're likely carrying a bag significantly overrated for the weather, too.

When it gets to -10F I need all the space I can get. I need to carry a ton more weight on items that take up much more space compared to the summer. I've tried not compressing my sleeping bag and noticed no difference besides it taking up more space. I actually carry bags underrated for the weather, and if it's uncomfortably cold I sleep with a boiling water filled bottle in a sock, but I rarely have to do that. Also that makes no sense. Compressing a bag doesn't make it weigh more.

What is your argument? You stuff the sleeping bag in a rainproof stuff sack in the backpack along with all your other shit that shouldn't get wet. That way you're filling out every little spot in your pack. This is basic knowledge.

That's what you use with smaller items. A compression sack for an item as large as a sleeping bag will always save up significant amounts of space. I put a rag, my tent footprint, and other small items in the space surrounding the sleeping bag compartment.

depends really on what they are, shape of the pack, etc. on how serious a benefit that is though. I put my quilt in one for waterproofing and it's very small. very easy to toss into the pack and stack thing on and around it, but I'm also no where near the total volume of my pack most trips. For winter camping it's excellent. Makes short work of packing the sleeping bag and I can shrink till it's just about a perfect fit.

This is what I’ve got. Have used it comfortably in around -15, though I did sleep in what I was wearing before bed. Was toasty. In those temperatures I expect to wear clothes to bed as opposed to just a base layer. You may disagree or not want to. If that’s the case, you’re going to be looking at a reasonably large bag anyway, and spending a LOT.

but OP is a retard for buying a 0F/-15C sleeping bag as his first bag. Since he's in the UK i'm betting it's for summer use, and anyone experienced enough to go winter camping in those temps wouldn't be retarded enough to NOT consider packed size when buying a sleeping bag

Unless you're a warm sleeper. I've taken my 20F bag down to -5F and was perfectly fine. I also go skiing in a t shirt though, my body's core is a furnace for some reason.
