When I'm on a long hike and starting to get sore, I pretend I'm playing DS. I imitate his walking rhythm and the way he clutches his shoulder bands when he tenses up. Pretend I'm on an important delivery. It's surprisingly effective to get into a "head empty, just walk" mindset.

Me either. I have to have some augmented reality/videogame overlaid on reality just to give it structure and meaning. I like to get those little glass jars with the cork and fill them with different V8 juices and pretend they're potions. I also use it as a way of resetting my mind, by loading a save and getting into a character so I can overcome fatigue.

Oh I just looked up rucksack because I thought a rucksack was bigger like Sam Porter Bridges' pack. Mine is a Sheetz (convenience store) backpack with grey body, red trim and black straps. It also straps around the waste
