Taking people on (short) hikes or taking them fishing is a good way to get them interested in the outdoors. It is a good way to make friends. You will find people that have similar interests and you can bond over your mutual enjoyment of nature. Good luck anon.

Yes, but if your into fishing and want to make friends try finding other people that are already into fishing through social media and make friends there. I have taken a few friends out fishing and it just never clicked with them, they couldn't figure out knots, got bored, and just didn't enjoy the experience. The friends I have made through social media that were already into fishing have become really close friends, we meet up a few times a month, have daily group chats, help each other out with more than fishing type stuff.

Always feel bad the other person has to keep sorting my fuck up though.
I've done river fishing with basic bait and lures. Bigger rods with bigger hooks and shit for the sea and spinning lures off the back of a boat.
Never done fly fishing, seems kinda complicated for a noob like me though.

it's ok fren i was that guy once. even if you lose a lure or break a rod it's just stuff and can be replaced

i have never fished off a boat, i have fished for seatrout with lures and halibut with bait from land though but not much

i never learned how to cast a fly rod either, but i still hope that someday i will learn. sometimes i use a fly and bobber

Fly fishing is very popular here, in the summer this river is full of people. Not really sure what they are catching though.
