Hey /out/,
A few years ago I bought my Lowa Baffin Pro's (a class C hiking boot that can work with flexible crampons). I bought them because they were the only boots that didn't either squish my toes or in which my feet swam if I tried on a size up. After some serious hiking, these boots turned out to still be a bit loose around the ankle.
Now I saved up for a new pair of hiking boots. The only brand available around my parts (the Netherlands) that offered several boots with a wide forefoot and narrow ankle were HanWag. The two boots I was looking at were the Tatra Wide (a B/A boot) and the Yukon Wide (A B/C boot).
I use the boots mostly on uneven trails, with some off-trail sections (slopes, scree, boulders, rubble, snowfields, shallow streams, mud, etc.). Which of the two would you recommend?
For those who don't know, the A to D rating system has A for trail running shoes and the like, B for light hiking boots, C for somewhat stiff boots that can fit flexible cramptons and D boots are stiff and beant for alpine climbing with crampons.
