I live in coal country and there are tons of long abandoned ghost towns and mines around here. I'm trying to track down some that may be good to /out/ at, other than the obvious old-pit-mines-turned-lakes. How do you minefags find good places other than trolling around google maps? Will GIS maps have them listed? Ive had some sort of success with old county atlases that show the locations of towns that once were, but so far Ive struck out on finding any with any significant structures left.
