>>2150412How do you like your Californian-infested yuppie shithole? Do you live there year round or just seasonally?
Not everyone hikes recreationally, and you won't find anyone working in forestry/mining/geology wearing footwear without ankle protection- not only because OSHA/WCB/WorksafeBC demands it, but because you want the ankle protection from deadfall when you're picking through broken terrain. Pretending that trail runners are some be-all outdoor footwear makes you just as much of a larper as someone wearing 40 year old combat boots.
Trail runners have a time and place, they ARE NOT a solution for all situations. Theyre fine for hiking a well-travelled trail, but if you come to the PNW where you need a machete to get through vegetation they're good for walking your dog and nothing more.
