To get away from people. I already live in an extremely rural, isolated area but even the interactions I have (work, grocery store, etc.) get to me. I can’t imagine living in a densely populated area with tons of people. I briefly lived in Chicago and hated every second of it.

I dislike people generally, I have few friends but I go /out/ with them to get away from the world. Being poor and lonely, and having nothing doesn't matter when you're miles from any roads with no cell service. Plus it's peaceful, keeps my mind calm

I go for different reasons. These are some of the main ones:

Sometimes I seek out locations that provide more solitude than views. Other times I'll select places that don't provide much solitude but tick some of the other boxes.

What's the scam? I can see the book being shitty, but what is the scam, pretending it is good? Every author has to run that scam. Only other scam I can see is feds compiling a list of edgy teens, not too bad.
