I live next a little river. Katsura river in Kyoto. Upriver from the big bridge they have boat tours and what not. I walk across the bloody bridge every day and just want to get out on the water and paddle. Maybe go down from Kameoka. It doesn't look all that dangerous.

I've rented Kayaks and stuff in Vancouver, where I am from.

Would something like this be appropriate for a little river? Any other suggestions of what to look for?
