>>2150222Never heard of that permit and wouldn't pay it even if I had. No one is gonna find you even in the busiest crown land closest to the city.
>>2150132The hardest part is finding a good spot, the government would much prefer everyone go to their special $50/night campgrounds than actually go innawoods so they seem to make information deliberately hard to find. Closer to the city or offroad vehicle trails = more retards and their noise and garbage. I like to take day trips out to scout for likely looking locations so that when I'm going camping and carrying my pack I at least have a vague direction for where I want to look for a site.
You should know some basic stuff like fire safety, how to not get lost, where to get water, and bear behaviour. Be aware of hunters if it's hunting season. Have a first aid kit but more importantly, don't put yourself in a situation where you'll need it. Basically no one is gonna come save you if you really fuck up, so tell people where you're going and when you'll be back.
That stuff can seem intimidating but it really is fun to go explore and find your own place to camp than going to the car camping sites full of kids and RV boomers. It's not that dangerous if you know basic stuff and think about what you're doing. Plus you get kino such as cutting firewood or making a fire pit. Just take it easy at first and get used to it, I still go near the city and not too far from my car while trying a new loadout or piece of gear in case I need to head home suddenly.
