Seen a few Blackbears in the woods on hikes and stuff, never seen one camping, been on some trips to go recover some dead ones after a hunt, one time we had to shoot one again cause it wasn't dead yet. They don't taste very good, in jerky or pot roast form.

A friend of mine is a ranger at a local park where they are constantly working with bears. They got a report that a bear was hit by a train the other day and went out to see if it needed to be put down. When they showed up at the site, they found a severed black bear foot so they knew it would be in the area. The forest nearby was dense enough that they couldn't go through everything, so they used a drone with infrared to search. They quickly found a bear nearby but were confused to see that it had all its legs. When they went over to check it out, they realized it was a bear known as "The boss" who is the biggest grizzly in the park. He's been hit by cars before and lived. It turns out that he killed the black bear who got hit and was eating him.

Just black, saw a grizzly from really far away once in Alaska, would like to see a polar bear. Polar bears were my grandfather's favorite animal.

I have ears and eyes and know where you're likely to find a bear but black bears hate people so as long as you're not retarded you're fine.
See them a lot in berry patches.
>Food storage
Only thing I eat when I camp that is likely to give me issue is fish but I land my canoe and clean my fish away from my camp. Only catch enough that I'll eat them in one meal.
I hang my pack but that's actually to keep rodents and smaller animals out of my shit.
>Pistols vs. spray
I camp out of country so don't want to go through the pain of bringing/buying a gun.
Never needed anything more than a loud voice.

I spent three months in Alaska once, while I was there I saw a black bear momma and cub. First time was like this:

Nope, I hold a local record for deep sea fishing and I just kind of collect trophies as a hobby. I get into stuff like that when it presents itself. Hunting is about timing just like fishing and a lot of other competitive sports. I have the discipline and I learn fast. I would love to be able to add that to things I've done in my life. Sorry you are too much of a pussy to understand the appeal of doing something historic like that. Newsflash, the bear is going to die eventually, it's probably getting older every day. If I take that thing out and get it stuffed and mounted it will live forever and take on legendary status, and I'll have a small place beside it. Probably the least skill intensive method of fishing. Trophy hunting in the way you are describing is a sign you are impotent as you are desperately trying to leave your mark. Nobody would be impressed by killing this bear. Tens of thousands of people have seen him. Tens of thousands of people have had the opportunity to kill him. lol no it's not. I give zero fucks what some granola cucks are scared of doing. They probably have guns on them when they go "bear watching" or whatever so whatever. Happening on a bear by accident is pretty cool, but stalking a bear and actually intentionally coming upon it and shooting it is a major accomplishment. you can get black bear tags in some states. non-resident will run you usually over $300.

Alaska runs a thousand bucks for a grizzly tag and you are required to have a guide because retards like you generally cannot be trusted to follow the rules/not get yourself killed. it'll be a really great experience because the guide will probably have no qualms letting you know the utter contempt he has for idiots like you.

the video of that boomer who misses like four straight clean shots on a grizzly and eventually has to be put down with a 45-70 by the exasperated guide who now has to pack out this animal that his client did nothing to earn comes to mind.

Bears generally have shitty vision so they wont see what the whip is doing, and it will be hard to get a proper whip crack when you're surrounded by trees and foliage

Make noise while you're in the bush and be vigilant; bears will usually fuck off if they hear you coming. At least carry bear spray but for fuck sakes man get your PAL its not that hard

Saw this in Yellowstone last year. Griz killed a elk that had been gored in the rut. Was setting on the elk eating 30lbs at a time then sleeping on it.

The elk was still up but ran through in his gut from another bull. The bear drowned him and then made him a meat mattress. Happened about 75 yards off the main road. I got there day 2, went back a few times to watch him. Apparently he fought off a wolfpack and several others. Was the coolest thing I saw at Yellowstone.

You should definitely go bear hunting. Ignore what all the retards on here are saying, there’s little to no risk involved, you’ll find that bears are very easy to hunt and don’t pose a threat as long as you have some common sense.
