If it's not cobras, good leather boots (~1,5mm thickness) are enough to protect against attacks from the ground. They'll rarely strike higher than ~10cm. This is also the only protection that actually makes sense.
For cobras, you'd need bite-proof trousers (since they rear up before striking) and googles (since they spit venom) if you wanted complete protection. Though most of the time, you can just walk backward and avoid them.
For snakes that attack from trees (mambas, for example), you could in theory gear up in leather and kevlar, but in practice, not getting to close to branches or vines is enough. if you're in an area where they occur, just carry a machete and open a path before you. They'll avoid you as much as they can.
