Non-goretex runners also take fucking forever to dry once they're properly wet. Difference is with goretex shoes i wont have to put them in the drier after walking over a wet lawn.
Ive been using goretex shoes for the last 20 or so years and i have no plan to stop doing it since they work great, the only people who seethe about them are people who think that they should be some kind of wondershoes with the lightness of a running shoe and the waterproofness of a pair of rubber boots.
