lighter than a metal one and holds up well if you get a decent one, even can withstand some heat as i have used it to shovel coals out of a fire.

How big are your guys' shits ffs? It takes about 5 hand scoops to dig a shit hole, and you're going to be washing your hands anyway so what is the problem? If you have a flat rock nearby (80% of the time there is a suitable rock near) you can use that too.
Also let's be completely honest if your'e in the middle of the woods who is really digging a hole to shit? Sure if I am at camp or on some exposed trail spot I will dig a hole but 'poop shovels' are yuppie retardation. I can't help but get kinda mad at the number of 'serious' thru hikers that obsess over sub 10lb pack weight and then insist I need a poop shovel in the same breath.
