atm I'm punishing myself by reprofiling a Crescent tools D2 folder from a hollow grind to a flat grind, by hand. It's a whole lot of NO FUN, It's a stupid amont of steel to have to remove to make that happen but I know I'll be happy with it when I'm done with it.
Yeah I know, I should have just bought a knife that had the profile that I wanted from the get-go. Such is life when you're tarded. At less than $30 bucks tho' I figured fuck it, why not.
Pro's about the knife, it's solid feeling, good lock up and smooth deployment with no play in the blade at all, well put together and smooth in the hand and a nice deep pocket clip.
Cons. A bit hefty for it's size but not unmanageable, factory grind came sharp but the angle on the secondary bevel was a bit un-slicy and the hollow grind feels too hollow with the shoulders being too thick for my liking, it cuts, but it could be better.
And yeah I'm aware they have a saber grind version in 3.25 inches which I probably would have been happier with as is, but when I impulsively bought mine at the store it wasn't available in D2 at the time.
Overall probably still worth having and still a decent knife for the money.
I have other D2 knives I use for larpshit, but I wanted this one for EDC since I'm retiring my old EDC folder. It'll be interesting for me to see if the heat treat on the edge is comparable to my other knives. Yeah, I know, I should have just ordered an Ontario Rat 1 in D2, I still might.
