I think your biggest dangers in the jungle would be disease and parasites. Piranhas rarely attack humans. I have no idea how likely it is that you would actually see a snake, a jaguar, or a poison dart frog.

you're more likely to die of dehydration in a couple of hours than any of those things.
the problem with the jungle is it's so humid and hot that you need to be basically drinking water constantly or you'll dehydrate. once you start dehydrating your brain starts shutting down, making bad decisions, you get lost and confused easily, possibly injure yourself severely.
even if you dont injure yourself at that point, you'll be beyond being able to save yourself if you dont get more fresh, clean water after a couple of hours.

In WW2 when the Aussie reservists were fighting off the Japs in Papua New Guinea, both sides lost more troops to jungle diseases and dehydration than from actually shooting each other.
Japs thought the jungle would be just like anywhere else in Asia but they were sorely fucking mistaken.

Isn't he in SE QLD? It's a bit less hot and significantly less humid down here, though yeah you'd be crazy to head into the bush for any significant stretch of time without a good stockpile of water.

The main dangers are parasites, disease and then venomous snakes. Spiders and scorpions can be a risk too but they're far less lethal than some snakes. Also if you're in SE Asian rainforests elephants can be pretty dangerous.

Why did you only list the freak accident dangerous stuff? I've lived around a few jungles, spent time in a residential apartment near one too. Bugs will fucking cause you great pain or kill you, but more than likely just cause you great pain. They are especially bad at night, but as long as you stay near some fire or use mosquito nets that's usually fine. Then you have the crazy weather which can isolate you and prevent you from getting medical care if you need it, rain is a big deal there. If it rains you need to be ready for it and fit that into your schedule. Forget undiscovered tribes, worry about locals that are part of some smuggling ring or some crime syndicate that operates out of the jungle, just don't look too close at what they are doing and don't piss them off and you are fine. Snakes are a risk, but you need to know where they usually are and what deters them. The big stuff usually isn't a problem until you get away from people. Honestly biggest problem is probably going to be weather, as the people said with dehydration.

Makes a bit more sense then. The cooler temperate rainforests in the SE are nice to visit, much less dangerous, but the areas they're in are fairly small. Places like the Bunya mountains or Gold Coast hinterland.

Since you mentioned wild chickens (junglefowl) I assume you are in South or Southeast Asia. There are a lot of different jungly biomes there, but as others have said your biggest enemy will probably not be big animals (although some of them are VERY dangerous, saltwater crocs come to mind) but the heat and humidity, and also the terrain. A machete will be very useful in clearing a straight path forwards. Dengue is endemic, and it's worse in rivers and wetlands. Stepping in a puddle could get you a case of swimmer's itch. Fording a river could get you chomped on by a croc. And mangroves? Mangroves are effectively impassable by foot or by boat. So make sure you have a good map of the area before trying to head into it. If you're staying in the jungle for any length of time, hire a local guide, they're not expensive and they understand most of these rules. Also

When I was a teenager my family went to Ecuador and we stayed for a week in the Amazon. We were in a shitty hotel but it was also like a 45 minute boat ride from the nearest road. Let me tell you you could not avoid the mosquitoes. Even wearing repellent and sleeping in a net they would still find ways to get you.
Also if you don't go to an established area like me another problem could be there's nowhere to set up camp. There is not a single clear space of floor in the Amazon besides tiny skinny trails. I'd imagine you'd have to spend at least an hour just clearing a space for your tent.
We also saw all kinds of animals including tarantulas, snakes, all kinds of monkeys, sloths, and even river dolphins. When we got to a bigger lake area they told us we could swim and that in that bigger area it wasn't dangerous. They did tell us not to pee in the water though cuz that fish will find your dick and get in it.
Although we saw animals the main problem would have to be disease and getting enough water. They are filthy conditions that bacteria and all sorts of other shit love to grow in. The animals would be some threat but in most scenarios(especially with the smaller venomous/poisonous one) they don't want to fuck with you and if you don't fuck with them nothing will happen. Also idk how people find food out there without just eating something that would kill you.
