>>2162314>i don't really see /out/ being shit, i mean it still has its big fishing, mycology threads and all the other generalswe didn't use to need generals. People would find mushrooms, post them, and we would have a mushroom thread. Same with the foraging thread, that's why it's a foraging thread and not it general. In the past, someone would find catch a fish or find some blackberries, and then post a thread of cooking the fish outside, or making blackberry pie.
They only became generals because regular threads became so insufferable thanks to the influx of newfags this past year. If you don't believe me, feel free to check the archives.
The biggest problem now is the new thread creation rate.
Newfag tourists from other boards have grown used to constant stimulation they can't wait several hours for replies. So instead they create new threads, hoping they can catch more (You)s that way. The problem is that bumps legitimate, slower discussion threads down and even kills some of them.
It used to be on /out/ you could post a trip planning thread on Monday, discuss ideas for that trip all week, leave on your trip on Friday, and your thread would be still up on page 5 or 6 for you to post updates on the following Monday. Slower threads would last a week without replies before getting bumped off.
But because of the increased new thread creation rate, threads only last 1-2 days without bumps now.
>Why do people complain about this board ?We don't complain about /out/, we complain about it what it became.
Just because /out/ is less shit than garbage boards like /fit/ or /tv/ doesn't mean it hasn't gone downhill.
And neither does it mean we should be trying to turn /out/ into one of those garbage boards.
