I am a 25 year old white male poorfag living in the US who is absolutely fed up with society. I have spent the last year acquiring survival gear and bug out equipment. My question to you guys is is it even possible in this day and age to just run out deep into the woods and live out there without being discovered? My plan was to load up my car, use gps to find an isolated spot, and then drive down the most remote roads I can and abandon my car somewhere hidden. Is this possible? What are the best locations for this?

I was hoping to not need money where I would live but perhaps that is unrealistic. I should mention that I doubt my car will fetch more than a couple hundred dollars. It's not exactly in the best condition.

or just go get a job in the middle of knowhere that will let you camp on there land.
like a farmhand or something, then you could try and do this on private land, while also having a safety net of a job.

The issue is with looking for wild plants, that the time you spend on looking requires you to move. And moving around like that will most likely consume more calories than plants you'd find. Best bet would be probably near a river to fish, but Winter will be supertough. Also Floods would be a problem obviously.

Not really.
You can learn how to make tools from stones etc, Hunting equipment from wood etc. and other shit. Problem is that we humans got where we are now by working together. Humans are not like Predators hyperspecialized to survive in their environment. We are highly adaptive and are capable to do shit by splitting out labour and tasks.

Surviving solo innawoods is superharsh. Imagine you get sick/ill. Now you can't even obtain any proper food without putting strain on your body. You might die from malnutrition, because getting really all the vitamins at every time of the year will be very difficult to achieve.

To survive like tha tyou'd probably require training and preparation of at least 5 years. Including physical training, mental training and education.

Yeah technically you could, but there is no way that that is a realistic option for some 17 year old who just bought a backpack with a camo pattern on it and wants to check out of society, whilst never having gone out before in his life.

Take a look around "Aspen Alley" in Wyoming. Or down by Encampment. Very remote. Very cold in the winter, tho. The Gila wilderness in New Mexico / Mogollon area is some real Mountain Man country. I would do something else though...and I did.

I left my job at age 40, bought 30 acres in the middle of nowhere, has a good well on it and a shelter w wood stove. Cashed out my TSP/401k to buy it for cash, no mortgage.
I've never been happier, but then I have a certain personality type I guess. Chickens, geese, ducks, pigs and deer keep me fed plus my garden.

I am not OP I’m 19 in Canada and I have a similar plan.

My plan is to save money for my job for a few years, buy land bordering crown land, farm and hunt there for 8 months of the year, but go back to civ to work throughout winter to pay for supplies + property taxes.

Alaska would be the best place to attempt to homestead. You need to do some research. Figure out the area you want and plants native to the area. If you are on the internet and want to use it you might be better off just buying a remote cabin somewhere with internet service 20 mintues from civilization but still close enough to get essentials. You should save up money and get a decent job to get a home loan. But no you can't really go just trespass somewhere. I guess you could live in a tent on public land permanently.

No. First off you obviously need to study the book and learn the plants. But identification is like 5% of being a proficient forager. The rest is knowing the habits of the plant, where it grows, what plants it grows near. You need to know phenology, the timing of when to harvest. You need to know efficient foraging techniques, an experienced forager with the right equipment and skill can harvest 5 times as much as a novice in the same time. You need to know to effectively process food, it takes a lot of time and effort to crack nuts, thresh and winnow seeds, clean and process roots, strain pits from fruit etc. You need to know how to preserve the foods you harvest and using the limited means you would have off grid. And of course you need to know how to cook and eat the foods.
These skills cant be learned from a book. Sam Thayers books are the best because they tell you how to do most of these things however to actually learn them it takes years of practice.

Every couple months or so I will stand or turn on my feet in the wrong way. I'm about 50 lbs. overweight although I think it's possible I could do this at a normal weight. Anyways, I have to use crutches to get around and it can be extremely disruptive to performing my usual tasks and way of life. Crutches are a lot harder to use and get around in especially if even the slightest bit of contact with the injured foot will make your eyes water with pain. Standing up, in particular, is difficult unless you are in a tall chair. If you were laying on the floor, that is going to be much more difficult to stand. No weight can go on that food. It provides zero stability and support.

Anyways, if it's not already obvious: a sprained ankle or injured foot could mean several days without food and water if it happens unexpectedly. And how do you heal without those things?

You've acquired the gear - have you learned any skills though?
It would be easy to have a comfortable shelter built in a day, something relatively permanent within a week (assuming you're going out equipped with gear to achieve this).
It would be an ongoing project of course, but entirely achievable.
The main limitations are environmental. Is there water, wood, stone, clay etc nearby? Obviously setting something up in a desert would be 100x harder than somewhere temperate like OP pic.
You're still going to need a job though, unless you're planning to be a subsistence farmer and hunter which would, in my opinion, suck.

Go spend a day doing it and see how that works out for you.
Eating a few berries n shit when you're out is a nice novelty (mmm, wild blackberries, yum!) but you're not going to live comfortably off that shit.
Plus every day you're going to have to go a bit further from base to find anything.
Given that edible plants are in most places fairly scarce, after a day or two you'll be walking literally miles to get a snack, burning more energy and nutrients than you're finding.

Not really, but not for the reasons you think: Us humans, we domesticated ourselves first. We need, even depend on civilization. We can't drink river water; it'll just give us bugs. We must have treated water. Even in the ugliest civil wars, some civilization survives to provide for the soldiers.
That said, get out there, and get away. It's good exercise. And it's good naturalize yourself to the highest degree possible. We'll never quite be free wild animals again, but the less we depend of this society, the more we're free to try and change it for the better.

Written like a true inexperienced retard. Maybe on a mountain top, but theres a reason nobody lives there. Fertile river valleys are the most productive habitat for both domestic and wild foods. Unfortunately for this reason most river valleys are already settled and not really open for anon to survive in.
