The cub isn't even close, it could be dangerous if you accidentally walked in between a cub and a mom but that didn't happen here.
But don't run from bears, that's the actual one instance you can die. The only black bear death I know of was when a jogger was killed by a black bear, because if you run from predators they think you're food
