>>220482The idea of the bag being stored and ready to go is so that when what ever happens (Be it natural disaster or out of control gubment troops coming down the street) you won't have to go rummage through your cabinets and closets to round up all your shit.
URGENCY is the key here, "Bug out" doesn't mean "take your time getting out of here" it means bug the fuck out of here NOW.
Also, shit in closets/cabinets gets moved by pesky fuckers, used by pesky fuckers, and lost by pesky fuckers. Never trust them.
All that aside though, I don't actually keep one..... I've got 2 camping bags (Bigger and smaller) that both are outfitted so I can grab and go on an adventure (Minus food and water) of varying degree.
Things exclusive to each bag stay in their respective bags, things that I don't have doubles of or have cross applications stay in 2 water-proof bags. If the bags are in the big bag, and we're going out for a small trip, I just move the 2 water-proofs over to the small bag and boom, ready to go.
>No, there isn't an m-16 in either of my bags
