I don't think it's entirely race-related, however, especially as much of a melting pot the US continues to be. At least not as far as simply a skin-color issue.
Some of it is definitely conditioned. It's mostly government and blacks telling every new generation that they must get a check because they're black, they won't do well in school because they're black, they'll never amount to anything because they're black.
And yet, when someone manages to hold their head above the crowd (metaphorically speaking) and see an opportunity to improve their life, it's not "racist" white society pushing them to failure. It's more often blacks telling them they're no longer really black to shame them back to the ghetto or to shame them into handouts. It's other blacks calling them an Uncle Tom for trying to GTFO the shithole. And it's government telling them they would be better off getting paid to have more illegitimate kids.
Nah. People can improve themselves and can learn better behavior if they're given the right conditions.
And to relate to the OP, I don't give half a rat's ass what color anyone is on the trail. I carry a gun just as much for the errant trailer trash white redneck meth head as I do for some random smartass ghetto black person who thinks people are somehow more vulnerable while walking in the woods.
For everyone who thinks segregation is good, that government handouts to people is a good thing, that whatever should be excused and funded by government and society rather than people being left to their own devices and learn that their parents were wrong, fuck you.
