That night I was solo camping way out in the backcountry. The air was filled with silence so every sound was amplified. My mind started playing tricks on me. When I heard the bark I thought it might have been a stray dog, or worse another person with a dog coming into my camp at midnight. When I got back home I realized it was a coyote and felt like such a pussy.
