hi /out/ i'm back. we had a good weekend out and it went really well. we were really out there so i was able to leave her off leash for quite a bit of the hike - i only did so with the certainty that I'd see someone before they were so close as to become an issue and that she wasn't going to run off. the hike was tough with the extra water but she did her part by carrying her food.
>>2178839good tip, i had brought a sleeping pad for her and she's got a thick enough coat that she was comfy in the tent on that and outside of my sleeping bag. i figure she was comfy because a) she slept mostly through the night and b) she didn't make any attempt to get into my bag or lay on my sleeping pad as she did the last time we went camping without the doggy sleeping pad
>>2178859as i said it was pretty out there and other hikers were very very rare. i left her on leash for the first several hours until i realized there was practically no one else out as far as us.
>>2178886she's 54 lbs and i gave her probably about 10% of her body weight to carry. she showed no signs of exhaustion whatsoever (aside from the nap she took once we reached camp each day). we took plenty of water breaks - too many, apparently because she only drank every 3 breaks or so. thanks for your concern anon <3
>>2178894good tip, she had tick and flea preventatives and i kept the bugspray to myself, and even then they were pretty mild
i'll post some pics from the trip
