You'd be better off with a winter tent and a wood stove. You can legally camp in one spot of public land for up to 14 days in a 28 day period. After that you have to move at least 25 miles. If you have a van, you could just cycle between 2 or 3 campsites in a 50 mile radius. If you get a trapping license and get good, you could probably scrape together enough cover the overhead of your car, gear, and licenses each year and forage/fish/hunt for your food.
Except you probably won't do that because you're a larper.
